Luther Sun, Software Developer in Test, presented the test suite for the branch cache family of protocols implemented most recently in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 at the Redmond Interoperability Protocols Plugfest 2013. The MS-PCCRC, MS-PCCRR, MS-PCHC and MS-PCCRTP Windows Protocol Documents cover these protocols and they are referenced by the MS-SMB2 protocol document and are covered in the MS-CCRSO overview document as well.
This session will focus on what the Microsoft modern principles are, and the steps needed to evolve a common on-premise system architecture to something that is more modern. We will discuss the tenants of modern architecture and why they are important. The speaker will also walk through changes that can be made to update a sample application to a more modern style. Cost factors will be discussed, including the manual work needed, testing, and risks of change.
SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) is an evolving product. Besides revamping database projects this product has also changed the lifecycle in which we receive new features. In this session we demonstrate features such as database snapshots, localdb, and database unit testing. Most importantly, we show the many benefits of the Publish feature, and why you will want to use the built-in refactoring instead of just renaming objects. Throughout this presentation we also highlight and demonstrate the features that have been added to SSDT in the past year.
