Even though the cloud provides elastic scale and seemingly infinite resources, you still have to design, monitor and tune performance. Microsoft Azure SQL Database has architectural differences from SQL Server and understanding how these can impact performance is critical. In this session, Microsoft Azure MVP, Eric D. Boyd, will show you how you can identify bottlenecks and the cause of performance problems in SQL Database. This session will introduce you to the tools you can use to investigate throttling, connection events and resources, and poorly performing queries such as dynamic management objects (DMVs and DMFs) and cloud-based tools in Microsoft Azure. You will also learn how to appropriately handle throttling in your applications and scale by partitioning databases.
Expand your app’s potential across platforms and markets using Visual Studio + Xamarin + Multilingual App Toolkit. Whether you’re code sharing via PCLs for Windows Phone, iOS, and Android apps, or using Xamarin Forms, the Multilingual App Toolkit provides the same simplified localization workflow used by Windows Desktop, Store, and Phone developers. This session will cover enabling and use the toolkit in your daily development effort as well working with translation vendors and community translators. Speaker: Cameron Lerum.
Converged networking has great potential for increasing the performance, flexibility, and cost effectiveness of your Hyper-V deployment. However, it also introduces new concepts and new potentials for misconfiguration. Come to this session to hear from the Hyper-V and Networking team on the best way to approach converged networking for Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V environments.
