In this session we will show how the new Microsoft is changing this perception and why Microsoft Azure is a great place to build and run your Linux and OSS apps and workloads. We will outline our strategy and showcase some of the patterns and practices for building great apps using Linux and OSS on Microsoft Azure.
This session introduces the concept of user defined routes and IP Forwarding and illustrates how this can used to build sophisticated scenarios involving network virtual appliances. There will also be a code walkthrough of the template used to set up the scenario end to end in Azure Resource Manager.

Windows 8.1 provides new APIs geared to high-performance list scenarios in XAML apps. In this video, Tim Heuer will provide an overview of the APIs and explain how the platform and Visual Studio tooling teams worked together to build productivity on top of the APIs. Tim will also show a demonstration of several highly-requested features now available in Windows 8.1.
