In this session will take a look at how we protect our VM's and make sure they are resilient. We will take a look at local backup, Windows Azure backup and Hyper-V replication. We will also take a look a brief look at System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). As your infrastructure grows, and you want to start managing many Hyper-V hosts at scale, and want to take advantage of more advanced deployment options and capabilities. SCVMM plays a very important role, and in this session you get an introduction to this tool
In preparation for the event, we recommend that you download the free, full-featured version of Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 as well these other free evaluations available for download:
IP address configuration, domain join, computer rename, firewall configuration, network configuration testing, role and feature install, virtual machine creation. There are a large number of everyday tasks that server administrators still do with the GUI out of habit, even though there are faster ways to accomplish the same things in PowerShell. In this session we'll show you a number of single line PowerShell commands that you can use to replace systems administration tasks that you still perform using the GUI because you've been doing it that way since the days of Windows NT.
Richard Conway and Andy Cross, Azure MVPs from Elastacloud, take you on a tour de force of Big Data as a workload and the available services on Azure for supporting them. The session begins with introductory outlining of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS offerings; from the complexities and power of building a Linux IaaS cluster to the simplicity and bounded capabilities of Cloud Services via HDInsight. The session will continue to give hands on examples of HDInsight, the Hadoop on Azure service and will conclude with a demonstration of Machine Learning with the new AzureML service.
