As Microsoft moves into its next big era, a central question is what are Modern Apps. Modern Apps play a central role in this new world of Devices and Services, and in this keynote we'll explore what they are, their ever-pervasive applicability to the individual and the enterprise, and most importantly how you go about building them.
Steve has spent almost 20 years in the IT industry in various areas working for a range of small boutique consulting firms to large, global consulting and software firms. He's been with Microsoft since 1998 working on a range of technologies such as Natural Language and Search to .NET, Office and SharePoint development to Windows Azure and Cloud Computing. He is currently a Director in Microsoft Services leading a global team of Cloud Architects helping enterprises make the transition to the Cloud through Windows Azure and Modern Business Apps. Steve has authored multiple technical books and articles on a variety of topics and speaks regularly at events and conferences both domestically and internationally.
In this session the speaker will go through the various uses of Windows Azure for dev and test scenarios. The content wil call out common current day flaws in testing, such as don't test at all, poor/incomplete hardware, out of date builds in QA, can't test to scale, and several other scenarios. The demo in this session will include building/deploying a simple ASP.Net MVC4 app for testing.
We'll kick the day off with an overview of the Windows Azure cloud offering and discuss its benefits over traditional on-premise solutions.
