On the transformation journey to the Cloud – SharePoint Online and Office 365 are attractive, and the facts may be that some or most of your business runs on-prem which may change over time, but not overnight. The co-existence of on-Prem SharePoint and SharePoint Online becomes a common scene for most enterprises nowadays. How can you ensure users stay productive when in such “Hybrid” mode – some content on-prem and some Online? In this session, we will show case a real world Australian customer and how Microsoft help them to implement SharePoint Hybrid features. We will first provide an overview of Hybrid models with an emphasis on Outbound Hybrid search and Hybrid OneDrive. We will then dive into the technical details of hybrid architecture, configuration techniques and proven ways of implementation. We will also share with you the challenges during the implementation and how to overcome them. At the end of the session, you should have the information you need to make both business and technical decisions as to hybrid implementation and have an insight of what involves in setting up such architecture.
Authentication and Authorisation can be tricky, with many different methods of performing similar tasks and it can be hard to figure out what's best for your projects. It gets even trickier when you start thinking about how to authorise cross platform applications including web and apps (and now with Xamarin thrown in, it's even murkier!). Throw in WebAPI2 on the other side and it's starting to become unclear how to make a great experience for developers and end users alike. In this session Jordan will demonstrate how to build a centralised authentication system that supports web and apps, passing claims around all over the place using Json Web Tokens ending up in a WebAPI2 based API site. The session will investigate a range of concepts from web to app to API, including best practices, Autofac powered filters, OWIN and other cool concepts that your services need!
